Abstract
This article examines the regional characteristics of soil cover formation in the Issyk-Kul basin, which are determined by the geomorphological and climatic characteristics of the terrain. Based on climatic indicators, three natural regions can be distinguished in the region: western, central, and eastern, each characterized by specific soil types. Mountainvalley gray-brown desert stony soils are replaced by light brown, light brown chestnut soils, and chestnut soils by black earth. Morphological descriptions of soils are carried out using the Mancell table. The agroecological characteristics of soils are supplemented by laboratory soil analyses, and the use of soil protection and resource-saving farming techniques by farmers on their fields is discussed with local farmers.
